Chicken Liver Risotto

I have a second report testifying that Vincent’s liver dish is a winner.  Here’s the scoop from fellow film archivist Lisa Kerrigan:

“This was really delicious, and as Lucy pointed out when she made it, it’s great value. This vat lasted for 3 days and even the leftovers felt really luxurious. Eating liver does make me feel like a grown up.

Also I went to see ‘Laura’ last Friday and there’s a terrific bit where Vincent Price pops back into the kitchen at a party and asks the cook if she’s saved any chicken livers for him as they’re his favourite. She has! So he pops a few in his mouth and then asks her to marry him, the charmer. No wonder Laura fell for him (a bit).”

So this is something that is on my list to make soon.  Especially as I am on a big economy drive.

And of course, I love that mention of Vincent in ‘Laura’ – I’ve got the DVD around somewhere so will dig it out.  Meanwhile of course the words Vincent Price and chicken livers in the same sentence gives me a great excuse to link to this:

Pork Chops Song – chicken livers, chicken livers, chicken livers, pork!

  1. How fun to see Laura in a movie theatre! I totally need to try chicken liver risotto–we can only get chicken livers in 2-lb tubs, so it requires a bit of creativity to use them up!

  2. Wow! 2 lbs of liver – Vincent would LOVE that x
