Vincent says: In the days of the Old West when the railroads were new, Fred Harvey’s station restaurants were one of the few links with the more civilized ways of the eastern United States.  The Harvey Girls, as his waitresses were known, are part of the folklore of the West, many of them marrying miners and prospectors who struck it rich and made grand ladies of the erstwhile hash-slingers.  There are still Harvey Girls in the station restaurants, and their pancakes are served on the Santa Fe diners as well as in the restaurants.  Those girls really can cook!

  1. I assume that you’ve seen The Harvey Girls with Judy Garland? Not the best, but still a sweet little movie.
And I like anything with Judy Garland.

  2. Oh my goodness, that is DEFINITELY going on my list to view!
